Setting Up Your Risk Library

How to configure and manage risks and controls in Forwood One

Written by Jessica Serena

The Forwood One Risk Library allows organisations to manage risks and controls within a centralised operational framework.

The Risk Library is designed to provide clients with a strong starting point using Forwood’s supported risks and controls, while also allowing organisations to create and manage content aligned to their own operational requirements.

This guide explains how the Risk Library works within Forwood One, what content is provided by Forwood, and how your organisation can manage and govern risks and controls over time.

Understanding the Risk Library

The Risk Library is the central location where risks and controls are created, managed, and maintained within Forwood One.

The library allows organisations to use Forwood-provided content, customise content, or create entirely new risks and controls aligned to their operational requirements.

Standard Risk & Control Content Provided by Forwood

Forwood provides a library of critical risks and critical controls based on industry knowledge, operational experience, and best-practice risk management approaches.

This content is designed to provide organisations with a strong operational starting point and may include:

  • Supported critical risks

  • Supported critical controls

  • Industry-aligned operational content

  • Standard risk and control structures

  • Risk icons

Managed by Forwood

Standard risk and control content provided by Forwood is centrally managed by Forwood.

This includes:

  • New risks and controls

  • Updates to existing content

Where updates are made to standard content, they may become available to clients using the standard versions.

Reviewing and Selecting Risks & Controls

Clients can review the available risks and controls within the library and determine which content is relevant to their organisation.

This allows organisations to:

  • Select relevant critical risks and critical controls

  • Exclude content that is not operationally relevant

  • Align operational content to site specific requirements

  • Adjust the materiality (critical/not critical)

Creating Custom Risks & Controls

Clients are not limited to standard Forwood content.

Organisations can create and manage their own risks and controls directly within the Risk Library.

This allows organisations to:

  • Create organisation-specific risks and controls

  • Align content to operational processes

  • Manage their own custom frameworks

This helps organisations ensure the Risk Library reflects their operational model and risk profile.

Linking Controls to Risks

Forwood One supports linking critical controls directly to critical risks.

This allows organisations to:

  • Establish clear risk-to-control relationships

  • Improve operational visibility

  • Support assurance and verification activities

  • Improve reporting and governance outcomes

These relationships are used throughout the platform, including reporting, workflows, and checklist activities.

Adding Icons for Operational Visibility

Clients can configure icons and illustrations for risks and controls within the Risk Library.

Forwood provides a library of standard icons and illustrations, however clients can also upload and manage their own custom icons and illustrations to align with internal standards, branding, or operational requirements.

This help to improve:

  • Operational visibility

  • User recognition

  • Navigation within the platform

  • Visual identification of risks and controls

This allows organisations to create a more intuitive operational experience for users.

Training & Onboarding Support

Forwood provides onboarding support and training to help organisations understand how the Risk Library operates.

Training may include:

  • Reviewing standard risks and controls
